Walk for PKD on 25 Sept

 






UPDATE: I posted this some time ago, but here are a few of the pictures from the actual walk. Come out and walk with us next year!!!!!!!!!

The PKD Foundation’s Mission Statement is to promote programs of research, advocacy, education, support and awareness in order to discover treatments and a cure for Polycystic Kidney Disease and improve the lives of all it affects The Walk for PKD is the signature fundraiser event for the PKD Foundation. Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) is one of the most common, life-threatening genetic diseases, affecting 600,000 Americans and 12.5 million people, worldwide. ADPKD affects more people than Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy and sickle cell anemia combined.

Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease (ARPKD) is a rare genetic disorder, occurring in approximately 1 in 20,000 individuals. It affects boys and girls equally and often causes significant mortality in the first month of life. If the child survives the newborn period, the chances of survival are good. For these children, approximately one-third will need dialysis or transplantation by the age of 10.
